Meet Dr. Abed
My promise is to exceed your expectations and treat my patients like they are family.
I see myself as creating a legacy of smiles. Being a female orthodontist, and a mom, I believe my compassion for my patients and their families enables me to develop a special rapport with them. I value meeting and spending time with each person who comes to visit, getting to know them and learning about their lives. It is a joy to watch a person’s confidence grow as their teeth straighten, and to see their self-esteem and personality blossom, from visit-to-visit, too!
As an orthodontist, I especially love having the ability to use my knowledge and skills to help patients live healthier and happier lives. Educating and motivating patients and families about dental health is one of the most important parts of my job. Beautiful smiles can last a lifetime – but only if the teeth and gums are kept clean!
Education and Experience
Before becoming an orthodontist, I completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Detroit. Following dental school, in 1991 I earned my Master of Science in Orthodontics.
After more than 25 years practicing orthodontics, I love my job more than ever!
My practice has been designed as a space where people want to visit. Kids have fun with our free arcade and they love our reward program that offers toys or gift certificates as prizes. The whole office is geared toward children, so it’s filled with laughter and growing, wonderful smiles!
Constant Learning
Since completing my Master’s in Orthodontics, I have always kept up with the newest methods and technologies. This ensures my patients receive the highest quality and most comfortable treatment possible, and that their finished smile is bright, healthy, and functional.
As part of my continuing education, I have completed extensive training and courses in Invisalign® therapy. This popular and effective treatment option appeals to teens and adults, as the clear aligners are virtually invisible.
My memberships in the American Association of Orthodontists and Michigan Dental Association provide many opportunities for furthering my knowledge. I regularly attend meetings and seminars, and avidly read the latest journals and other peer-reviewed publications.
Beyond the Office
Originally from Palestine, I have long considered Michigan to be my home. My husband and I live in South Lyon, where I enjoy cooking, reading, and ballroom dancing; I have even won ballroom dancing competitions!
Family is of utmost importance to me. My husband and I are proud parents to three grown children: Chad, who is a dentist; Keith, who is an engineer; and Ashley, who is a podiatrist.
As an active member of our dynamic community, I am involved in many fundraising events at local schools. I also support local sports teams, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, movies in the park, and our local police departments.
